The PVS-14 is the standard-issue night vision monocular used across U.S. forces and is widely known for its versatility. It can be helmet-mounted for hands-free use, paired behind compatible weapon optics, or used as a handheld device. As a monocular, it provides Gen3 night vision to one eye while allowing the other to maintain natural night-adapted vision—ideal for rapidly changing light conditions or transitioning between night vision and white light.
TNV/PVS-14 Construction
The TNV/PVS-14 is a U.S.-built Gen3 night vision monocular assembled by trained technicians using factory-new components and hand-selected image intensifier tubes. Based on the military-issue AN/PVS-14, it is available in multiple kit configurations, allowing users to select only the accessories they need.
Image Intensifier Tube Options
We offer the TNV/PVS-14 with several tube options to suit different performance needs and budgets, including:
-
L3Harris Gen3 Unfilmed White Phosphor – Industry-leading clarity, high light transmission, and excellent low-light performance.
-
Elbit White Phosphor – High-quality Gen3 tubes known for consistency, reliability, and strong overall image performance.
-
Photonis – Advanced digital and hybrid options offering excellent detection and wide dynamic range across varied lighting environments.
The L3Harris Unfilmed White Phosphor tubes used in some configurations are the same type selected by U.S. Special Operations Forces. While these tubes are weapons-rated, the PVS-14 housing itself is intended primarily for helmet-mounted use rather than heavy-recoil weapon platforms.
Maintenance
The TNV/PVS-14 requires minimal maintenance. It follows U.S. Army and Marine Corps standards for Preventative Maintenance Checks (as outlined in TM 11-5855-306-10 and 10271A-10/1A). Maintenance is only recommended if the unit shows signs of damage or malfunction. Optional annual inspections are available at no cost, though unnecessary disassembly is discouraged.
